Announcing the iPad

For over a month, iTablet/iSlate/iPad rumors have been popping up all over the place, and dominating tech blogs and Apple enthusiast sites. Today marked the official Apple announcement of the iPad. And it's shipping worldwide in 60 days, 90 days for the 3G versions (yup, 3G).Pricing, specs, and more! The device will come in 6 flavors - 16GB ($499), 32GB ($599), and 64GB ($699). You'll add $130 to any of those for the 3G version. 3G models allow you to use AT&T's 3G network (they're unlocked, too) for a decent price - $29.99/mo for unlimited data, $14.99/mo for 250MB. There is no contract, no cancellation fees, and you can sign up right from the device. As suspected, the device DOES run a modified version of the iPhoneOS (let's get those in the hands of the dev team, eh? jailbreak!). This means all those AppStore apps you know and love will run on your 9.7" display iPad. And iWork as well. For you developers out there, Apple has released SDK 3.1.2 for the iPad only. We've also set up a brand new iPad forum on ModMyi.com. Keep an eye on it for the latest on it's jailbreak status and new info!
